Starknet allocates 50 million STRK tokens to establish a gaming committee.

The Starknet team announced the establishment of the Starknet Gaming Committee yesterday, aiming to promote the development of the gaming sector within the ecosystem. They have allocated 50 million STRK tokens for the committee to use, which can be used for operations and rewarding promising projects to join the Starknet ecosystem.

Starknet Establishes Gaming Committee

The Starknet Foundation announced the formation of a gaming committee yesterday. The committee, consisting of six experts, is tasked with promoting the development of games in the Starknet ecosystem.

The responsibilities of the gaming committee include analyzing, strategizing, and recommending potential projects to expand Starknet's gaming ecosystem. The committee's effectiveness will be measured by metrics such as daily active users, retention rates, and revenue.

The gaming committee is appointed by the Starknet Foundation's board of directors, and the current members are as follows:

  • Henri Lieutaud Starknet Foundation
  • Oli Freuler Starkware
  • Gabin Marignier Focus Tree
  • Chris Lexmond Unstoppable Games
  • Tarrence van As Cartridge
  • Loaf Loot Realms

The gaming committee has received support from the Starknet Foundation in the form of 50 million STRK tokens valued at $125 million, to serve as incentive funds for game projects to attract more developers to join and utilize.

Prior to this, Starknet's all-chain game engine Dojo has sparked a wave of game ecosystem development, but as of now, a killer flagship has yet to emerge, naturally becoming one of Starknet team's development goals.

Layer2 Seizes Market Entry with Cost Advantage through Gaming

Aside from Starknet, gaming has long been a key focus for many Layer2 networks and even Layer1.

Arbitrum recently launched an eight-week game hackathon Arbitrum Arcade, where its ecosystem's first Layer3 network Xai is also based on gaming. Immutable X network has also been deeply involved, with well-established chain games like Illuvium and God Unchained.

Arbitrum's ecosystem pushes the game-specific chain Xai to compete for the Layer2 application market.

Polygon and Avalanche utilize subnets to assist in customizing networks for gaming projects. Gas Hero is built on the former, while the latter announced a collaboration with the Web3 MapleStory Universe yesterday to help build the game.
