DappRadar data shows that there are approximately 1 million active wallets participating in blockchain games globally, but this is only a small fraction of the 3 billion mainstream gamers.

During the Game Developers Conference, four blockchain game companies, Yield Guild Games YGG, Game7, Magic Eden, and Fenix Games, announced the formation of the Web 3 Games Collective W3GC alliance, combining their efforts to expand the Web 3 games market.

YGG is a decentralized gaming guild, and its co-founder Gabby Dizon pointed out:

The process of discovering and using Web3 games is still too complex compared to more mature Web2 platforms like Xbox or Apple's App Store. By collaborating with DAOs like Game7 and game publishers like Fenix Games, YGG aims to achieve industry-wide adoption through simplifying frameworks and developing ecosystems.

Game7 is a DAO focused on gaming, with a treasury managed and deployed by the community. Its mission is to assist in making capital allocation decisions, defining gaming standards, funding open-source software, and aiding the continuous development of the gaming industry through ensuring fair practices. Its core contributor Steven Chen stated:

We see the emphasis on investment in blockchain gaming infrastructure, with many teams working to address critical issues in technology and service stacks. But we also believe that, as we have seen in PC, console, and mobile games, focusing on introducing more high-quality games and IPs will ultimately drive the industry forward.

Fenix Games raised $150 million at the end of last year to create a blockchain game publishing platform. Its brand director Rudy Koch mentioned:

One of our goals is to help discover and expand the first batch of super-popular blockchain games, just like what Clash of Clans did for free mobile games. We are looking for top game developers interested in Web3.

Meanwhile, decentralized NFT marketplace Magic Eden's game lead Chris Akhavan stated:

Everyone in this alliance believes that Web3 technology has the potential to create incredible opportunities for game developers, players, and content creators. Alliances like this can significantly boost those pioneering game studios and help them succeed. We are excited to use our Launchpad, marketplace, and operational sales channels to assist the best web3 games in the field, making them influential hits, and contributing to the success of the W3GC alliance's games.
