Bitcoin ecosystem: NFT Node Monkey founder criticized for making no contribution to Ordinals

Last year, the Bitcoin ecosystem sparked a frenzy, with the Ordinals protocol bringing about a wealth effect. However, recently, the mastermind behind the Ordinals protocol and the Runes protocol, Casey, publicly clashed with Rocktoshi on Twitter, directly accusing Rocktoshi of having no connection whatsoever with Ordinals, yet falsely claiming to be a co-founder of Ordinals. Bitcoin ecosystem influencer @cbspears, also known as Charile, revealed that Rocktoshi is the secret figure behind the Bitcoin ecosystem NFT dragon, NodeMonkes, and stated that Rocktoshi has been harassing and threatening him for months. Following the incident, Bitcoin ecosystem KOLs such as @realizingerin, @TO, @LeonidasNFT, @NFTJoona, and others have come forward.

Rocktoshi Deceives Under the Guise of Ordinals, Contributing Nothing

In a tweet on 9/6, Casey explicitly stated that Rocktoshi has no affiliation with the Ordinals protocol. He clarified that he was friends with Rocktoshi before the invention of Ordinals. Regarding Ordinals, Rocktoshi did not contribute any useful ideas or code, as he is not capable of programming. If any association were to be mentioned, Rocktoshi was one of the four co-founders of Ordinals Corporation, a startup established in February 2023 after the success of Ordinals. However, due to poor judgment at the time, the company dissolved in less than three months.

Casey revealed that upon founding the company, he found Rocktoshi to be untrustworthy. When Casey expressed his unwillingness to work with Rocktoshi, Rocktoshi demanded $5 million to buy out his stake in the company. Casey added that the so-called stake did not exist since the company was worthless and had never issued any shares.

Casey further stated that even after the company dissolved, he continued to receive threats, insults, and emotional blackmail from Rocktoshi. Rocktoshi has been falsely claiming association with Ordinals and his relationship with Casey within the Bitcoin ecosystem, deceiving many long-term members of the Bitcoin community in a similar manner.

Bitcoin Community Leaders Speak Out Against Rocktoshi's Lack of Standing

In response to Casey's original post, several Bitcoin community leaders published articles around January 10th, all condemning Rocktoshi's misconduct. Charile was the first to point out that Rocktoshi is the mastermind behind the NFT project NodeMonkes in the Bitcoin ecosystem, earning millions through this venture. He disclosed that he had been harassed and threatened by Rocktoshi for over six months, and he believed that many others in the ecosystem had similar experiences.

Joona shared her similar encounter with Rocktoshi, where they had a working relationship that ended abruptly when Rocktoshi unilaterally broke their contract for vague reasons and threatened legal action against her.

Erin from the Ordinals Foundation came forward to support Charile, stating that she had personally endured such treatment for six months. She commended Charile for his altruism and significant contributions to the ecosystem.

Ninja, the host of The Ordinals Show, also voiced his support for Charile, describing him as the kindest person he had ever met. He expressed gratitude to Erin for her courage and revealed that some members of his community and even startups he had invested in had also been subjected to similar torment. While initially seeing Rocktoshi as a good person, he realized the necessity of speaking out to prevent further harm.

Lastly, the co-host of The Ordinals Show, Leonidas, expressed remorse for his selfish silence, acknowledging that Rocktoshi's toxic behavior had tainted the industry. Despite Rocktoshi's humorous public persona, few had witnessed the true extent of his malicious actions. He emphasized that the success of the NodeMonkes NFT collection was unrelated to Rocktoshi and bluntly labeled him as despicable, asserting that he holds no standing in the ecosystem.

Rocktoshi Responds, NodeMonkes NFT Prices Plummet

Rocktoshi addressed the situation ten hours ago with the following statement:

To all concerned parties: I am not a fraud, and those who know me, including Casey, are aware of this fact. I speak the truth, and publicly stating this eases the tension. To Casey: I believe you should calm down after the personal attacks and character defamation. It is repulsive and unnecessary. I wish you well, even if you do not wish the same for me, but I forgive you.

NodeMonkes is one of the most prominent NFTs in the Bitcoin ecosystem. RSIC Rune Miner airdropped a maximum of 5 RSIC to active NodeMonkes addresses on January 22nd. The floor price of NodeMonkes reached a historical high of 0.73 BTC on March 18th. However, the floor price plummeted from 0.116 BTC on 9/5 to 0.103 BTC on 9/6, a decrease of over 10%.
