Founder of Well-Known Market Maker Accused of Attempted Drugging with Great Skill
Hana stated that Eugene Ng had previously asked her out multiple times, claiming to have job opportunities that matched her criteria. As a newcomer to the industry, she gladly accepted the help from the person who offered to guide her.
However, things took an unexpected turn after their meeting on the 24th. Hana mentioned that she first went to the restroom, then returned to drink a beverage and stepped out to take a phone call. It was during this moment that Eugene Ng made his move, and Hana became aware of his actions when a server discreetly informed her that Eugene Ng had tampered with her drink.
Hana then switched her drink and tested Eugene Ng's reaction upon his return. She expressed her dislike for the taste of the wine and requested a replacement. However, Eugene Ng unusually refused this request. Subsequently, Eugene Ng used various tactics to urge Hana to quickly finish the drink, which made Hana realize Eugene Ng's malicious intent.
Feeling dizzy at the bar's entrance, Hana was continuously reassured by Eugene Ng that she did not need to work so hard, as she could make money through the insider information he provided. Fortunately, Hana did not fall victim to the scheme. Reflecting on the incident, she acknowledged that even individuals with a good reputation may engage in unethical activities behind the scenes. Recognizing his highly skilled manipulation tactics, Hana decided to report the incident to the authorities, which promptly led to the retrieval of surveillance footage.
Another female KOL, @Elizabethofyou, stated that she could probably guess who was involved, as she was also one of the harassed victims. According to her account, incidents of such sexual harassment seem to be not uncommon in this circle. Just yesterday, she was also harassed by a prominent startup figure who had received substantial financing, indirectly challenging the notion that the "cryptocurrency circle is the cleanest."
DWF Immediately Dismisses Eugene Ng
Market maker DWF Labs, following the scandal, promptly issued a press release stating that during the investigation, they had decided to immediately terminate the employment of the aforementioned partner in management and operations. They reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards acts that violate integrity, respect, and accountability.
Andrei Grachev, the head of the company, stated, "We never cross ethical boundaries, and our philosophy is centered around people. Whether someone is an intern or a shareholder, crossing the line will prompt an immediate response."
Binance-backed OpenEden Responds: Individual Not in Actual Control
It is noteworthy that although Eugene Ng's Twitter and LinkedIn accounts have been deactivated, his information can still be found on Rootdata. Eugene Ng, a graduate of New York University Stern School of Business, has educational experiences at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Singapore Management University.
His work experience is extensive, having served as the APAC Business Growth Director at Matrixport and Gemini. Besides being well-known as the founder of DWF Labs, he is also the founder of OpenEden, a project for tokenizing sovereign debt recently invested in by Binance Labs. OpenEden is currently open only to professional investors.
While concerns were raised about the potential impact of the incident on the project itself, OpenEden quickly responded, stating that they were aware of the situation and would take action once the investigation results were available. CEO Jeremy is the actual decision-maker, ensuring that their operations remain unaffected.
An interesting aspect of this case is the name similarity between Eugene Ng involved in this incident and the renowned trader Eugene Ng. The latter promptly clarified that he was not the individual involved in the crime.
