Pirated Curve App sneaks into Apple Store, climbs to Top 100 in global finance rankings

Previously, there have been cases of Indian citizens counterfeiting the Pro version of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, and now there are attempts to pirate the decentralized exchange platform Curve Finance. Recently, a fake Curve Finance App has gained popularity on the Apple Store, even ranking in the Top 100 of financial apps in regions such as Europe, the Americas, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. However, many users have warned others on the App Store review boards that this is a scam. Currently, the official Curve Finance team is advising users not to download this counterfeit Curve app.

Counterfeit Curve Finance App Resurfaces

This is not the first time a counterfeit Curve Finance app has appeared on Apple's App Store. The official Curve Finance account had previously warned users to "beware of scams" on 2/14 this year, stating that there is no official Curve App on the Apple Store. The previous counterfeit Curve was developed by a company named "MK Technology Co. Ltd," with a rating of 4.6 stars, claiming to be a powerful loan management app.

The latest counterfeit Curve is named "Curve defi v3," developed by "Tao Duong Van," suspected to be a developer from Vietnam. The counterfeit Curve claims to offer various services such as token exchange and liquidity staking, and even boasts having "30 million users worldwide," attempting to gain trust and lure users to download and use it. However, comments in the review section are all one-star reviews labeling it as "scam" or "hacker."

Counterfeit Curve Promotes Tetris Content, Still Deceiving Users

Although the description of the counterfeit Curve is noticeably rough and does not align with the actual use of DeFi, many users are still falling for it. The counterfeit Curve even claims, "Curve defi v3 is a great app! Arrange the blocks in a row and clear them!" This description is identical to Tetris, but some people are still being deceived.

Financial technology engineer Babu warned everyone on Twitter to be cautious of this counterfeit Curve, tagging the official Curve Finance Twitter account and urging everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious apps. This post was also retweeted by the Curve official account, advising users to stay alert and avoid downloading apps from unknown sources.
