Gallup Poll: Confidence in U.S. leadership declines, Biden and Powell both suffer double-digit drop

According to the latest Gallup survey, due to the highest inflation pressure the United States has experienced in over 40 years, Americans' confidence in the leadership managing the economy has been shaken. Less than half of Americans now believe that Federal Reserve Chair Powell, President Biden, and the Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress can do the right thing for the economy.

Americans Have More Confidence in the Federal Reserve Chair than the President, Republican Confidence Index Surpasses Democrats

Historically, Americans have had lower confidence in congressional leaders compared to the President and the Federal Reserve Chair. Currently, confidence in Democratic leadership stands at 38%, close to the historical low of 35% recorded in 2014; while the latest rating for Republican leadership is at 40%, significantly higher than the low of 24% in 2014.

Regarding President Biden's economic confidence rating, Gallup pointed out that since 2001, U.S. Presidents have had an average of 52% confidence in their ability to make correct decisions for the economy. In Biden's first year in office, he received a 57% rating, but the current 40% rating is among the lowest of recent Presidents.
