Following a large Bitcoin advertisement on the front page of Apple Daily in Hong Kong on August 24, the Hong Kong Bitcoin Association announced plans for another promotional campaign. In addition to securing advertising space on three double-decker buses, the association will set up large billboards at key locations such as in China, HSBC headquarters, and Standard Chartered Hong Kong headquarters to highlight the inherent advantages of Bitcoin.

The Hong Kong Bitcoin Association was established in 2012 with the aim of promoting Bitcoin technology and adoption in the Hong Kong region, currently boasting over 5,000 members. Throughout September, the association will fund advertising placements to explain the advantages of Bitcoin in the midst of uncertain economic conditions to the public.

Large-scale Bitcoin Evangelism Campaign

A series of slogans will be displayed on the promotional billboards, including "Bitcoin is Your Own Bank (Be Your Own Bank)":

Holding Bitcoin is your duty. Bitcoin will not have any relief or quantitative easing policy. You can verify the total circulation of Bitcoin on the blockchain through your home computer.

Finally, this advertisement aims to convey that in the history of technology, there have been many outrageous predictions that have turned out to be far from reality. Bitcoin remains highly controversial, as noted by American economist Paul Krugman, who equated using cryptocurrencies to an economic setback of 300 years; even Warren Buffett once described Bitcoin as "rat poison."

Bitcoin's Repeated Exposure This Year

According to the official website announcement, the campaign is planned to take place between September 11 and October 8. Leo Weese, co-founder of the Hong Kong Bitcoin Association, stated:

I believe its strength lies in the fact that it is not an advertisement for any institution but purely focuses on Bitcoin itself, including its disruptive new technology, its ability to hedge against inflation, and its trait of providing financial inclusivity. The advertising agencies were initially concerned, but once we added disclaimers, they were reassured. From fundraising, design, to deployment, it only took us two weeks.

Large Bitcoin advertisements have appeared multiple times this year, including the front page of the Hong Kong Apple Daily on August 24 and a full-page Bitcoin advertisement by digital currency investment institution Galaxy Digital in The Financial Times on August 14, boldly stating, "It's time to invest in Bitcoin."
