This acquisition follows in the footsteps of sportswear brand Adidas venturing into The Sandbox metaverse, marking another significant move by a renowned sports brand into the metaverse.

Nike has announced the acquisition of RTFKT, with CEO John Donahoe stating that this move is part of Nike's acceleration in digital transformation, allowing the brand to serve athletes and creators at the intersection of sports, innovation, gaming, and culture. He mentioned that the investment in RTFKT is aimed at assisting their innovative and creative community, while extending Nike's digital footprint and capabilities.

RTFKT was co-founded in 2020 by Benoit Pagotto, Chris Le, and Steven Vasilev, utilizing blockchain, NFTs, and gaming to create value across physical and digital realms for a diverse community of creators.

CLONE X Dominates OpenSea Rankings

Backed by Nike, CLONE X's blind boxes and open box market have secured the top two spots in OpenSea's seven-day trading volume rankings: CLONE X reached a trading volume of 21,139.1 ETH, surpassing RTFKT's 10,391 ETH, overtaking CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club.
