BAKC Allegedly Infringing Intellectual Property Rights

According to NFT artist COLOMBO's Twitter post, the NFT series "BAKC" released by Yuga Labs is suspected of infringing intellectual property rights.

COLOMBO discovered that the tutorial website Easy Drawing Guides released a tutorial video on " Wolf Skull" on April 6, 2021, which upon comparison by Twitter users, showed a striking resemblance to the BAKC trademark with a high level of similarity.

However, BAKC was launched in June 2021, leading to community suspicions regarding potential copyright infringement by Yuga Labs.

In response to this, Easy Drawing Guides stated that Yuga Labs did not obtain permission to use the work, and the intellectual property rights belong to Easy Drawing Guides, protected by terms and conditions.

Moreover, Easy Drawing Guides' terms of use clearly state: "We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license that is non-transferable for personal, non-commercial use and access to this website."

Therefore, the BAKC, which has accumulated over 180,000 ETH in trading volume on OpenSea, has indeed violated the terms of use set by Easy Drawing Guides.

BAKC to Change Trademark Soon

In response to this event, Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano stated that they are investigating the matter and contacting Easy Drawing Guides and the original designer of the BAKC trademark.

At the same time, Greg Solano mentioned that they will be changing the BAKC trademark and updating it on the official website and NFT marketplace.

The trademark of BAKC on OpenSea has been removed, now displaying only the four letters "BAKC."
