The long-standing U.S. men's adult magazine "Playboy" has collaborated with the NFT collection trading platform SuperRare to launch the "Miami Beach Series NFT" collection event for the first time. The collection was unveiled at the Decentraland Art Week on July 10 at 1 PM (4 AM Taipei time on July 11) and will run until July 18.

The "Playboy" Miami Beach art collection includes 5 NFTs, featuring a photo of the Playboy bunny from 1970, artworks by Ayla El-Moussa, REK0DE, Jon Noorlander, MBSJQ, and the original photo of the Playboy bunny on a surfboard in 1970.

Liz Suman, curator and Vice President of Editorial at "Playboy," stated that "Playboy" has always been eager to explore new forms of art, and digital art is a natural evolution.

She further expressed her hope for artists to explore three powerful themes related to "Playboy's" past, present, and future, including the unique Miami aesthetic, the integration of "Playboy" with the evolving cryptocurrency landscape, and the most iconic symbols of Playboy.

Founded in December 1953 by the late Hugh Marston Hefner, when television had not yet become a household appliance, "Playboy" entered the market using emerging art forms and technology. It proved willing to provoke controversy and engage in dialogue. "Playboy" staying current and entering the NFT field in the first half of 2021 with profits of $2.5 billion is not surprising.

Liz Suman mentioned that "Playboy's" goal is to continue supporting artists and engaging in collaborations based on its 67-year history, thereby sparking and sustaining conversations about censorship, sexual behavior, and freedom of speech.

For authenticity, each artist will mint their own NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain and then transfer the NFTs to be sold by Playboy.

SuperRare, established in 2017, is a digital art marketplace on the blockchain where creators and collectors participate. While the artworks will be hosted on the SuperRare platform, it is being promoted in collaboration with Decentraland, a virtual reality platform supported by the Ethereum blockchain. On Decentraland, users can create, experience, and monetize what they build and own.
