Russian artist: Distrusts Putin government! Burns passport in protest, turns video into NFT for auction to aid Ukraine

After the second round of talks between Russia and Ukraine ended without results, this nightmarish war shows no signs of ending. In addition to countries imposing economic sanctions on Putin, many civil organizations have also held various protest actions. On the 3rd, a Russian digital artist, Olive Allen, burned her Russian passport, recorded the process, turned it into an NFT, and auctioned it on Friday.

Burning Passport in Protest

"I burned my passport because I do not trust the Russia controlled by Putin and do not support the aggression against Ukraine," said Olive Allen.

The Russian artist Olive Allen, currently residing in New York, collaborated with the foreign media outlet NFT Now to burn her passport in front of the Russian consulate yesterday and documented the process to create an NFT. Olive Allen expressed that leaving her homeland was not easy, but she hopes the metaverse can provide new opportunities to connect with others.

The video documenting this NFT creation will be auctioned on SuperRare at 2:00 AM Taipei time on 3/5, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Ukrainian people.

As of today, the cryptocurrency donations received by Ukraine have exceeded $55 million, with support pouring in from around the world. Hopefully, this disaster will come to an end soon.
