Emotionally Blackmailed NFT "WZRDS" Introduction | Official Twitter Deliberately Provokes, Priced Too Low and Destroyed Directly!

In the current trend of free NFT minting, the WZRDS project with a fantasy dystopian style has captured the attention of many in the market. Not only has its floor price surged over 10 times in a short period, but its unique "burning other people's NFTs" mechanism has also sparked widespread discussions.

WZRDS Project Introduction

Similar to the recent popular Goblin project in the market, WZRDS also follows the path of free minting, with no Discord, only Twitter. The overall project has a strong medieval style, with the main characters being 10,000 decadent, scruffy wizards living in the magic-deprived town of Tyrol.

Although the background story and artistic style of the WZRDS project are clear and unique, attracting collectors willing to hold long-term, in this cutthroat NFT market, if a free minting project cannot double its floor price for arbitrage, it will quickly lose market attention. The strength of WZRDS lies in introducing various mechanisms to protect the floor price as the story unfolds.

Chapter 1

As mentioned earlier, the town of Tyrol where the wizards live has lost its magic. To restore vitality to Tyrol, powerful wizards have ventured into the dark forest to collect Magical Shrooms, mushrooms that can restore magic.

In other words, this is the background of the staking mechanism of WZRDS. By staking wizards on the official website, you can earn Shroomz tokens, the utility token of this world. The more you stake, the better you can protect the project's floor price in the secondary market, as the circulating supply of NFTs in the market decreases.

Furthermore, the official team is happy to create community conflicts, describing wizards who did not go to the dark forest or stake as thieves taking advantage of others, calling them Cowzrds by adding "CO" in front of WZRDS, meaning coward, and stating that they will not tolerate this situation for long.

At the same time, the website is currently conducting a vote to decide whether to execute these Cowzrds.

The WZRDS team also issued a warning:

"The blood of the weak who are unwilling to pay should fall into the hands of the truth, leave soon, weak ones, this is the last warning."

My NFT, Not My NFT

Two days after the final warning was issued, WZRDS introduced a feature in the NFT project to "destroy others' NFTs" for the first time in history. If any wizard is listed on the secondary market for less than 3.2ETH, other wizards can destroy them.

By clicking on The Peddler button on the website, you can see the wizards available for destruction at the bottom of the screen, and you can spend 20,000 Shroomz tokens to eliminate them.

Upon the release of this feature, wizards who were unaware or unable to cancel their listings were immediately massacred in large numbers, with casualties exceeding 1,000. The destroyed wizards will become half-skull heads, disappearing from the original project and instead receiving a Half-Skull of WZRD NFT.

According to the item description, this skull head may be redeemed at the altar in the future, perhaps with potential uses.

The Illusion of the Floor Price

Although this method effectively maintains the floor price of the WZRDS project at 3.2 ETH, examining its transaction records reveals that many transactions are completed through "accepting bids." Even if unable to list below 3.2 ETH, interested buyers can still purchase at lower prices through direct offers.

Therefore, the 3.2 ETH floor price is merely an artificially created illusion. Based on actual transaction prices, the current floor price is approximately between 0.25-0.3 ETH.

Explanation of WZRDS NFT Contract

This unique destruction mechanism has caught the attention of technical experts. Former Coinbase engineer 0xBeans.eth stated on Twitter that the WZRDS team can arbitrarily transfer and destroy these NFTs.

Typically, when a user attempts to transfer an NFT or a contract tries to transfer an NFT on behalf of a user, the NFT contract will check if the user is the token holder and ask for approval/permission from the contract to transfer the token.

This is why when a user tries to sell an NFT for the first time, OpenSea requests to send an approval transaction. If the NFT is sold, it essentially allows OpenSea to transfer the user's NFT to another person.

However, the WZRDS contract includes a special function "altarOfSacrifice[operator]," which is a mapping of addresses that allows anyone in this mapping to freely transfer/destroy anyone's tokens.

The control over this mapping is held by the owner of the WZRDS contract, the WZRDS team.

0xBeans.eth commented:

"Anyone added to this mapping basically has god-like permissions, and while the team has no incentive to abuse this function, the mechanism is interesting, but it looks somewhat scary and strange."
