Renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami recently announced that his small flower project "murakami.flower" will be launched in February. Prior to the release of the artwork, he took the opportunity to share his views on NFT art on Twitter and released a short video expressing his expectations for this piece.

Takashi Murakami's NFT Art Theory

1. I think NFT art is just art.

2. NFT art is fundamentally different from stocks or commodities.

3. Murakami.Flower NFT is art, pure and simple.

4. The meaning of an artwork as art is elusive at the time of its creation.

5. The artistic historical significance of an artwork is established by the artist and the environment after the work's creation.

6. An artist's value is tested after death, so they are often not fully appreciated during their lifetime.

7. Once an artist's true value is recognized by the public, their work may become extremely expensive.

8. The existence of Murakami.Flowers transcends beyond the blockchain.

After expressing a series of opinions, Takashi Murakami also released a video to chat with fans.

"The value of art is always evaluated after the author's death. I hope that Murakami Flowers will become valuable in 30 years. But I have a disadvantage. Most things in the world are dominated by the Western world, and the art field is no exception. The Asian art market began to grow in the past twenty years. I hope my works will appreciate even after I die, but it is not necessary at the moment." Murakami said in the video. However, he also knows that his works are already very expensive. Besides, he mentioned that he wants to protect his public art market, so he cannot participate in the current game of NFT artists. He must respect both NFT artists and the original art market, and also try to break some conventions.
