According to an interview by Decrypt, Zynga achieved enormous success early on with games like Texas Hold'Em Poker and the Facebook social farming game FarmVille, which at one point had 10 million daily active users.
In November 2021, Zynga brought in EA executive Matt Wolf to lead its blockchain gaming division, and as early as February last year, they revealed plans to develop NFT games.
During Take-Two's $12.7 billion acquisition of Zynga, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the two companies would be able to capitalize on the potential opportunities of Web3 together.
Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau also expressed interest in Play-to-Earn (P2E):
"The idea of allowing players to earn money through games is very appealing, and we believe that as the gaming industry evolves, such mechanisms will gradually come to the forefront."
