"Spend money to buy a dot, or spend more money to buy a bigger dot." This is how NFT artist Pak, who has previously appeared in Sotheby's auctions, succinctly described his latest work "The Merge." In this project, whitelisted participants could purchase unlimited "mass" for $299 within half an hour, while the public sale of each "mass" at $400 continued for two days. The unique feature of this artwork is that any quantity of "mass" in the same wallet will aggregate into a single dot, with the size of the dot increasing with more "mass." At the time of writing, the starting price for a "mass" with one dot, m1, is approximately 0.198 ETH, around $786.

Currently, the largest merged "mass" consists of 2691 dots, some with special colors, and is currently priced at 500 ETH for 2691 dots, which would require approximately 533 ETH at the base price. Excluding network transaction fees.

The New Use Case for The Merge

On the 23rd, Pak stated that The Merge can generate ASH. Note: Pak's project in the universe, Burn Art, is a platform that burns NFTs to increase scarcity and earn ASH tokens. Holders of The Merge meeting certain criteria can receive random airdropped NFTs through mass.black, which can be destroyed in exchange for ASH.

It is said that the airdrop will take place in the first quarter of 2022.

Airdrop Criteria Example

Pak gave examples of eligible individuals who can receive specific NFTs for free:

  • Designation: The first 20 to receive m29 tokens
  • Trading: Buying m50 can get 1 free NFT, and having m200 can get 4 free NFTs
  • Auction: Providing the highest quality collectors can receive unique limited NFTs
  • Competition: The fastest-growing quality within a certain period can receive NFTs

Pak had posted many cryptic posts before the announcement of this project. After the release, he said:

“When they need more, it will become less.” The more they need, the scarcer it will become.
