Vitalik Buterin quietly donates $5 million to help Ukraine
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin quietly donated $5 million worth of Ether to the Aid For Ukraine organization in early April. The Aid For Ukraine organization tweeted about the substantial donation, but Buterin himself did not publicly disclose any details about the donation. Therefore, the Aid For Ukraine organization linked the donation to Vitalik Buterin through the Ethereum Name Service domain "vitalik.eth".

Of the $5 million donation, half is directly donated to aid Ukraine, while the other half is donated to the Unchain Fund. The Unchain Fund is a cryptocurrency charity initiative created by activists in the blockchain community, aiming to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Alex Bornyakov, publicly thanked Buterin for his donation in a tweet: "Thank you very much for every cryptocurrency donation that aids Ukraine. It indeed helps strengthen our country and protect democratic values. Special thanks to Vitalik Buterin for standing with Ukraine."

According to Cointelegraph statistics, the total amount of tracked cryptocurrency donations sent to the Ukrainian government, military, and charitable organizations has exceeded $133 million. The Unchain Fund has received a donation of $10 million, with the majority of donations coming from NEAR tokens and ETH. Overall, the pace of donations has slowed down.
