Immutable partners with Polygon to launch Immutable zkEVM! IMX token will introduce four new features.

Web3 gaming platform Immutable announced today that it has formed a strategic alliance with the team behind the Ethereum scaling solution Polygon, aiming to accelerate the development and adoption of web3 games. With support from Polygon's zero-knowledge proof technology, Immutable will introduce an EVM-compatible zk-rollup scaling solution called Immutable zkEVM.

Immutable Launches New zk-rollup Scaling Solution Immutable zkEVM

According to a tweet from Immutable, gaming projects on Immutable and Polygon have gained significant attention in 2022, attracting nearly $2 billion in investment funds.

In this collaboration, Immutable will utilize Polygon's zero-knowledge technology to develop a new EVM-compatible zk-rollup scaling solution called Immutable zkEVM.

Immutable zkEVM is expected to be launched in the coming months. In addition to Polygon's technical support, developers can also develop on the platform directly through the Immutable platform. The goal is to strengthen digital ownership for global gamers and help game studios and independent developers develop web3 games faster, easier, and with lower risk.

Additionally, Immutable has stated that Immutable zkEVM is simply a new option for platform game developers and will not replace the zk-rollup scaling solution Immutable X based on Starkware.

Major Upgrades to Immutable Token IMX Features

Following the announcement of Immutable zkEVM, the official team has also announced that they will add four additional features to the platform token IMX. However, only the following two features have been revealed at present, with the remaining two features expected to be announced in April and May.

  1. 20% of platform fees will be paid in IMX.
  2. Gas fees for Immutable zkEVM will be paid in IMX.
