Uniswap founder lashes out at SushiSwap, prompting AC to comment: "Need an update?"

Yesterday evening, the AMM decentralized exchange platform SushiSwap on Ethereum released a video showcasing its new interface for token swapping. However, this video has angered Hayden Adams, the founder of Uniswap, the largest AMM decentralized exchange platform on Ethereum, who believes that SushiSwap's actions amount to serious plagiarism.

Uniswap Founder Hayden Adams Expresses Anger

Hayden Adams expressed his frustration by reposting a SushiSwap post, stating, "Treating counterfeiting as a product update." He then listed what he believed were copied elements of Uniswap, including design, protocols, and interfaces.

Hayden Adams said, "To be honest, this really bothers me. Besides the liquidity mining contract, SushiSwap hasn't contributed anything."

Let's see how similar they are. Here is the Uniswap interface:

After viewing the above screens, all I can say is: they really look alike.

Hayden Adams continued, "In the past, people used to say that I hated these forked projects, but I really don't. Uniswap has been forked hundreds, thousands of times." Hayden Adams believes that these forked projects should be respected and credited to the developers who were forked from. Then, give back to the community with truly open-source contributions.

Hayden Adams stated, "I've seen a lot of comments saying that SushiSwap is a project with a distinctive product and a high-quality team. Although I really hope that's the case, I haven't seen any favorable evidence so far. It's just liquidity mining and marketing."

Hayden Adams also had one last thing to say, that he had warned everyone in advance that the first lead developer of SushiSwap, NomiChef, would exit. Later, he did abandon SushiSwap, but that doesn't mean I am against competition or forks. This may be the reason why everyone thinks I am like that.

SushiSwap's Response to Community Criticism

One of the core developers, @OmakaseBar, stated that this release was just an experiment and unfortunately looks very similar to Uniswap in design. They will also take into account the community's feedback and remove the theme colors belonging to Uniswap.

Facing criticism of being a "copycat," @OmakaseBar hopes people can pay attention to their original products xSUSHI, Bentobox, and Kashi. They also welcome Uniswap to reference their design in v3 through open-source code.

Andre Cronje Jumps In: Are You Ready for an Update?

Andre Cronje, founder of Yearn.Finance, who has deep collaboration with SushiSwap, soon commented:

"When founders and core contributors start posting actively on Twitter, it usually means they have reached a milestone in development and are waiting for an imminent release. This is a time when there's nothing to do and no next project to start. I noticed Hayden Adams has been posting a lot recently."

Andre Cronje seemed to indirectly taunt Uniswap's founder, to which Hayden Adams simply replied:

"Please delete this post."
