Asian communication giants join forces to create the fastest L1! Kakao and LINE

Asia's two major communication giants, Kakao and LINE, jointly built the L1 network Kaia, which announced on Twitter this morning at 10:00 a.m. that the mainnet has gone live. The goal is to create an ecosystem that supports DeFi, gaming, and Web3 applications through deep integration of communication software.

Kaia Mainnet Launched

Announcement indicates that Kaia, the L1 blockchain by Kakao and LINE, launched its mainnet at 10 AM today, emphasizing the simplification of Web3 access for users, developers, investors, and enterprises:

As the world's fastest EVM blockchain, Kaia boasts a transaction confirmation time of just 1 second, extremely low gas fees, and support from leading Web3 partners in Asia including Kakao and LINE NEXT.

The roadmap reveals that Kaia's official DeFi ecosystem gateway, Kaia Portal, and staking service, Kaia Square, will be launched successively.

KAIA Token Symbol Update

Regarding the token, the Kaia team stated that they will collaborate with CEX, DEX, DApp, and wallet providers to concurrently replace the previous "KLAY" token with "KAIA" to avoid confusion among users.

As one of the first token issuance partners, HashKey Global announced a few days ago that they will list and begin trading the Kaia token today, offering incentive programs.

Integration of Kakao and LINE's Public Chains

Previously reported, Kaia was launched following the merger of Kakao's Klaytn and LINE's Finschia public chains, with the previously announced "PDT" token now rebranded as "KAIA."

Reportedly, Kakao boasts a 96% usage rate in South Korea, while LINE is widely popular in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, with a combined user base exceeding 250 million.

Evidently, Kaia aims to address Web3 user experience and access challenges through deep integration with Kakao and LINE, establishing an ecosystem that combines DeFi, gaming, real-world asset RWA, and Web3-based communication software apps.

Kaia Wave Initiative: Supporting Developers and Accelerating User Adoption

Simultaneously with the mainnet launch, the Kaia Foundation collaborates with LINE's Web3 platform NEXT to introduce the "Kaia Wave" developer support program, allowing developers to design projects or enhance user experiences through their NEXT WEB software development kit SDK:

The Kaia Wave initiative will serve as a bridge for Asian and global Web3 partners to accelerate Web3 adoption, positioning Kaia as a leading blockchain platform in Asia.

Additionally, the company seems to have hinted at the idea of creating DApps on LINE:

Leveraging Kaia's low transaction latency and account abstraction capabilities, developers can create a seamless user experience on messaging apps, expanding their influence among hundreds of millions of LINE users in Asia.

Furthermore, "the initiative will provide eligible development teams with $1.2 million in marketing, technical, and business funding per group, along with benefits such as future token generation and liquidity support."
