Worldcoin ecosystem migration! Moving from Polygon to Optimism, with limited-time offer to claim Soulbound NFTs.

Worldcoin, a cryptocurrency project led by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has announced that its ecosystem wallet World App and digital identity World ID will be migrating from Polygon to Optimism. To celebrate the collaboration, they have released a free Soul-Bonding NFT for a limited time, available for free minting.

Worldcoin Ecosystem to Gradually Migrate to Optimism

According to Worldcoin's Twitter, World App and World ID will be migrating from Polygon to Ethereum L2 Optimism.

The official announcement stated that the Worldcoin Foundation, Tools for Humanity (TFH), early contributors to Worldcoin's core software development team, and the Optimism Collective have established a partnership to assist in the project of building the "superchain."

As the first step in the collaboration, the digital identity of the Worldcoin ecosystem, World ID, will be usable on Optimism, and the World App wallet will also migrate to the Optimism mainnet.

During Worldcoin's previous testing phases, due to the high operating costs on Optimism and Arbitrum, they temporarily chose Polygon.

However, after Worldcoin and Optimism began collaborating a year ago, they jointly proposed EIP-4844, which will reduce L2 costs by 10 times, making DApp usage more affordable for users. This also facilitated the migration.

Currently, Worldcoin in the testing phase is still running on Polygon, with the migration expected to be completed before the mainnet launch.

Note: The Optimism Collective is a team composed of communities, companies, and citizens, temporarily managed by the Optimism Foundation. It is a large-scale experiment in new digital democratic governance aimed at promoting the rapid and sustainable development of decentralized ecosystems.

Note: Superchain is Optimistic's latest project, aiming to integrate standalone L2s into a collaborative and composable system. As the platform for these chains, Optimistic will share its OP open-source code, aiming to make running an L2 network as simple as deploying smart contracts on Ethereum.

Optimism and Worldcoin Collaborate to Launch Free NFTs

To commemorate this collaboration, Optimism and Worldcoin have jointly launched an openly mintable but soul-bound NFT on Optimism, available for free minting for one week!
