Miami Bitcoin Conference | Attendance Halved in 2023, Michael Saylor Bullish on Ordinals Development
Compared to the Bitcoin summit in 2022, when BTC was still at the $45,000 level, this year's Miami Bitcoin Conference seems to have been affected by factors such as price, resulting in a sharp drop in attendance. However, Bitcoin supporter Michael Saylor remains optimistic about the future ecosystem and believes that the NFT protocol Ordinals could open up more applications for Bitcoin. His software company, MicroStrategy, is also actively researching in this area.
Bitcoin 2023 official website will begin live streaming at 10 p.m. Taiwan time on May 19th. Some interview excerpts will also be available on Bitcoin Magazine's Youtube channel.

Attendance at 2023 Miami Bitcoin Conference Halved
According to last year's event website and Decrypt report, the Miami Bitcoin Conference on April 6 of last year had approximately 35,000 attendees, with over 400 sponsors and 450 speakers participating.
At that time, Bitcoin was still at the $45,000 level. Currently, despite ecosystem support from NFT protocol Ordinals and token standard BRC-20, it has dropped below the recent high of $31,505, reaching $26,792 at the time of writing.
How do miners and developers view it: Are Ordinals and BRC-20 garbage data or a reflection of creative freedom? An article clarifies both perspectives.
Has the price dampened the enthusiasm of Bitcoin supporters? Andre Hicks, who has attended the conference for three consecutive years, stated:
The crowd this year is not as full as before, possibly due to factors such as reduced public income, inflation, etc. I have never seen such a lifeless bear market as it is now. Everyone wants to win, but no one is willing to go through the accumulation stage of low prices. In fact, participating in the summit can help you better understand cryptocurrency.
2023 Miami Bitcoin Conference Tickets Priced at $1,000
General tickets only allow participation in the two-day conference, while industry tickets are for three days and include time to interact with top investors and founders.
Compared to last year's Whale Pass ticket priced at $21,000, this year's Whale Pass is almost half the price but seems to have little attraction.
Bitcoin Conference Speaker Michael Saylor: Actively Studying Ordinals
Decrypt interviewed MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor at the event, where he stated that MicroStrategy not only understands Ordinals well but is also evaluating the related development applications of Ordinals:
The idea of writing data on the blockchain opens many doors for applications. I can execute digital signatures, register, or encrypt a document.
He mentioned a similar electronic signature platform, DocuSign, and believes that large enterprises relying on DocuSign's database are not reliable, whereas Bitcoin may bring a higher level of security to similar applications.
Regarding the controversy surrounding Ordinals, he stated:
The debate about Ordinals is very important because miners must achieve long-term success. Although the widespread adoption of Ordinals comes from many stupid reasons, the general consensus is "we criticize but do not censor." If someone wants to censor others' use of Bitcoin, I believe this goes against the community's values.
