F2Pool reveals the inside story of the halving block message: After careful selection for months, financial crisis history is repeating itself

The highly anticipated halving of block rewards in the first half of this year has finally concluded. The last block to receive a 12.5 BTC reward before the official halving was mined by the current largest mining pool, F2Pool, which hid a mysterious message within the block. F2Pool explained to the external media Coindesk the reason for embedding the message, claiming that it was a carefully selected news headline by the F2Pool team over the past few months.

The much-anticipated third Bitcoin halving officially commenced at block height 630,000 on May 12 at 3:23 AM Taiwan time. It was reported that in block 629,999, Coinbase data concealed a secret message paying tribute to Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto:

"On April 9, 2020, The New York Times injected $2.3 trillion, the Fed's relief program far exceeding the 2008 bailout level."

Months of Curated News Headlines

F2Pool was fortunate to receive the final block reward before the halving, leaving a significant mark in Bitcoin's history. Wang Chun, co-founder of F2Pool, mentioned in an interview:

"It was my idea, and our team carefully curated news headlines for several months until we found the perfect match."

"History is repeating itself. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, another wave of sustained aid is emerging, much like what Satoshi Nakamoto saw in 2008, but on a larger scale. It's as if Bitcoin is being reinvented once again," said Li Qingfei, F2Pool's marketing director.

"With the changing global economic environment, central banks around the world are gradually adopting aggressive quantitative easing (QE) policies. We find that Satoshi Nakamoto's concerns have always been present and have become increasingly serious since 2008," Li Qingfei added.

Admirers who are familiar with the origins and symbolic significance of Bitcoin also expressed their admiration. Cryptocurrency educator and author of "Mastering Bitcoin," Andreas Antonopoulos, believes that F2Pool's embedded message holds significant historical meaning.

The Next Decade for Bitcoin

F2Pool's embedded message resonates with the headline of The Times on the day of Bitcoin's genesis block, echoing:

"On January 3, 2009, the Chancellor is on the brink of the second round of bank emergency support."

Wang Chun, co-founder of F2Pool, stated that they chose The New York Times headline because of its status in the United States, similar to The Times in the UK, further echoing Satoshi Nakamoto's original message. He noted:

"We specifically chose to embed this message with the block reward halving because it's a milestone for the new era of Bitcoin. Every time Bitcoin halves, it's like witnessing Bitcoin enter a new era with clear boundaries."
