"Time Magazine" ventures into the NFT market! Plans to introduce subscription membership function, recruiting new CFO with condition: not averse to Bitcoin

The concept of digital art is gaining popularity, even media giant "Time Magazine" is getting involved. Time has released three NFTs designed based on its classic covers and has also announced a job opening for a Chief Financial Officer, seeking professionals who are not averse to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

Classic Covers Turned into NFTs

According to Yahoo Finance, the 98-year-old media giant "Time" magazine is exploring the future of cryptocurrency and NFTs. They have designed three NFT covers in a simple and bold style, titled:

  • Is God Dead?
  • Is Truth Dead?
  • Is Fiat Dead?

The three NFTs are listed on the digital art auction platform SuperRare. Time magazine's current CEO, Keith Grossman, mentioned in an interview:

The red border of Time magazine is our most iconic design. It's a very natural business expansion for us to enter the NFT market with our existing physical products along with digital products.

Project C

Time magazine established a cross-departmental team called "Project C" in early March to explore the future of NFTs. Figures such as Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, and Morgan Creek founder Anthony Pompliano have provided guidance for this project.

In addition, Time magazine's future NFT releases may offer more than just collectible functions. Grossman pointed out:

The first phase of what's happening in the NFT space has largely been around collectibles. The next phase is thinking about how these tokens can be used for unique functionalities like unlocking, subscribing, memberships, and more.

Hiring a New CFO

Meanwhile, on the evening of March 22nd, Time magazine posted a Chief Financial Officer job opening on LinkedIn. Besides requiring typical financial expertise, candidates must also be open to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

According to the bidding on SuperRare, the auction will end on the morning of March 25th. As of now, "Is Fiat Dead?" has the highest bid, with 20 Ether currently valued at around $34,000.

It appears that NFT artwork is just the first step for this media giant. Grossman plans to offer cryptocurrency payment options for subscribers within 30 days and create a user-friendly, frictionless way for users to engage with multifunctional NFTs within three months.
