Optimism launches the fifth season airdrop, giving away 5,000 MATIC to Superchain users.

Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution Optimism recently announced the fifth season of its airdrop program. Unlike typical airdrop programs, Optimism's airdrop this time is targeting the entire Superchain ecosystem members, not just limited to Optimism chain users. Superchain is the project name for Optimism's integration of Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem. In general, any Layer 2 developed using the OP Stack can be considered part of Superchain, including Coinbase's Base chain.

Optimism has released its Superchain roadmap, aiming to integrate the Ethereum ecosystem from Layer 2.

15.95 Million Euros Airdropped to 50,000 Users, Is Your Address Eligible?

This airdrop is calculated from active users on-chain from March 15th to September 15th this year. The snapshot has ended, with a total of 54,723 eligible addresses. Approximately 10.36 million OP tokens will be distributed based on these addresses, equivalent to around 15.95 million USD at the current price of 1.54 U.

To qualify for the airdrop, users must have interacted with at least 20 different smart contracts on the following networks during the snapshot period, with the ratio of the number of interactions with smart contracts to the number of transactions being greater than or equal to 0.1. For example, if a user interacts with exactly 20 different smart contracts, there should be 200 transaction records.

Eligible public chains include: OP Mainnet, Base, Zora, Mode, Metal, Fraxtal, Cyber, Mint, Swan, Redstone, Lisk, Derive, BOB, Xterio, Polynomial, Race, and Orderly.

The following are the four scenarios that meet the airdrop conditions based on the number of interactions with smart contracts and transaction volume:

Single Reward Exceeds 5,000 Euros, Dogecoin PvP Exclusion Clause Favors Real Users

Regarding the reward missions, the most qualified task is the Explorer mission: complete one or more Optimism missions between September 20, 2022, and January 17, 2023. Over 14,000 addresses meet this task.

The least qualified task is the Entrustor mission: to qualify for a reward, the number of entrusted OP tokens multiplied by the number of days must exceed 9,000. For example, entrusting 1,000 OP tokens for 9 days would meet the criteria. Only over 4,000 addresses have completed this task.

An active user is defined as someone who has conducted at least 10 application transactions per week for at least 20 weeks between March 15, 2024, and September 15, 2024, a total of 24 weeks.

Other tasks include:

  1. Forge three or more Sunny NFTs.
  2. Participate in five or more Superfest events between July 9, 2024, and September 3, 2024.
  3. Conduct application-type smart contract transactions on at least seven public chains.
  4. Within the first week of the mainnet launch, conduct application-type transactions on at least three chains.

Addresses meeting the conditions in the first paragraph will receive tokens based on network usage, with a maximum basic reward limit of 150 OP. With the reward missions, a single address can receive up to 3,500 OP, approximately 5,390 USD. Addresses with total rewards below 50 OP are not eligible for the airdrop. The official list of eligible addresses and rewards has been announced on Github.

The most important rule of this airdrop should be "interact with at least 20 different smart contracts, and the ratio of the number of interactions with smart contracts to the number of transactions being greater than or equal to 0.1." This term largely restricts addresses on the Base chain, which specialize in Dogecoin, as they accumulate a large transaction volume but lack a corresponding number of single smart contract interaction records. As a result, most Dogecoin players will be excluded due to this rule, leaving many spots for enthusiastic participants in the Superchain ecosystem.
