The moment closest to becoming a level one player! Decentraland officially launches, with a $100,000 treasure hunt kicking off.

After raising $24 million in just a few seconds from an ICO in 2017, the blockchain gaming project Decentraland has finally launched on the Ethereum blockchain after years of development. Decentraland has also announced a four-day treasure hunt event with a total value of over $100,000 to attract early players to participate.

Decentraland Virtual Reality Officially Launched

After years of anticipation, players can now create their virtual avatars and experience a different virtual life in Decentraland. Similar to the once-popular 2003 online virtual game "Second Life," Decentraland allows players to create their virtual avatars, interact, and trade with others in the game. Players can use the 3D modeling tools provided by developers to create their ideal virtual buildings, landscapes, vehicles, furniture, and machinery, among other virtual items.

However, what sets Decentraland apart from Second Life is that it is based on blockchain technology, and the assets owned by players are recorded on the blockchain in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

NFTs Are the Main Attraction

So far, Decentraland is one of the most anticipated game applications in the non-fungible token (NFT) space. Each LAND token in Decentraland represents a piece of land in the virtual world, and users can freely trade using the in-game currency - MANA - on Decentraland's marketplace. Since the second public auction of LAND tokens in December 2018, these tokens have been widely circulated in the market.

Since then, LAND tokens have become the largest non-fungible tokens by trading volume on the Ethereum blockchain. According to OpenSea, the weekly trading volume of LAND is approximately 2000 ETH (550,000 USD).

In addition to virtual land, Decentraland has expanded the role of NFTs on its platform, with items such as clothing, accessories, equipment, and character titles in the virtual world existing in the form of non-fungible tokens. Players have complete control and ownership of virtual assets, and they can freely trade virtual items with each other without the risk of losing ownership due to the game developer's closure.

Treasure Hunt Officially Begins

To attract early players, Decentraland has announced a four-day treasure hunt. Players can search for tokens such as Matic, Enjin, and Aragon, as well as special tokens and crypto collectibles issued by projects like CryptoKitties, Gods Unchained, and Chainbreakers in the virtual world. The total prize pool is valued at over 100,000 USD.

The launch of this project also marks the beginning of the Decentraland DAO, where the development team will gradually reduce its control over the project. This also means that no team or individual will have the power to change the rules of Decentraland, alter token content, or restrict public access in the future; all decisions will be made collectively by the community.
