Twitter Launches Official Subscription Revenue Model
Following the introduction of the subscription feature, Twitter has officially opened the revenue function for eligible users.
Elon Musk also retweeted the Twitter announcement, mentioning a delay in the subscription feature rollout for Apple iPhone users, as it is awaiting Apple's approval.
Note, it takes a few days longer for subscriptions to go active on iPhone vs web, as all subscriptions currently have to be approved by Apple

What are the Eligibility Criteria for Twitter Subscription?
According to the official announcement, the minimum requirements for a subscription are as follows:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have at least 500 followers
Account must have been active in the past 30 days
- After enabling subscriptions, there must be at least 25 tweets per month
Twitter Subscription Revenue Model: Creators Can Earn 97% Revenue Share
Twitter's subscription revenue model partners with payment service provider Stripe, requiring users to have a verified account with Stripe. Some key points include:
- Funds will be deposited within 3 to 10 days
Creators can earn a 97% revenue share from subscriptions
Revenue share decreases to 80% after total earnings reach $50,000, minus in-app purchase deductions
Withdrawals are possible once earnings reach $50, with any remaining earnings carried over
- American creators must pay taxes if annual earnings exceed $600
If the subscription fee on Twitter is $4.99 and the total revenue does not reach $50,000, the breakdown of the $4.99 can be as follows:
$4.99: User subscription fee
$1.5: App Store in-app purchase deduction (Apple tax)
$0.10: Twitter's minimum deduction
$3.39: Goes to the creator
On April 14, Musk stated that Twitter would not take a cut in the first year of the subscription revenue model, and thereafter it would be 10%. This allows creators to receive all earnings minus the deductions from iOS and Android in the first year.
For the next 12 months, Twitter will keep none of the money.
You will receive whatever money we receive, so that’s 70% for subscriptions on iOS & Android (they charge 30%) and ~92% on web (could be better, depending on payment processor).
After first year, iOS & Android fees…

Elon Musk Makes Millions Annually Through Twitter Subscriptions?
Furthermore, Musk's tweet on April 25 revealed that he already has 24,700 subscribers. Calculating at $4 per single subscription, after deducting Apple's tax, Musk could potentially earn $95,836 per month and $1.15 million annually.
However, the integration of cryptocurrency payments, eagerly anticipated by the crypto community, does not appear to be part of Musk's payment mechanism blueprint.
