Taiwanese AI startup enters Japan! Opening up a new economic route between Taiwan and Japan

AI and chips have become the most sought-after resources globally. How to collaborate with neighboring regions in the competition for resources, while also joining forces to defend against online fraud, hacker attacks, and threats of war, will be crucial for survival.

In the past two years, Taiwan-Japan trade interactions have become increasingly close. The profound historical ties between Taiwan and Japan have deeply influenced Taiwanese culture. Due to geographical proximity and similar dietary habits, Taiwanese people love to study, travel, and visit Japan. Japanese restaurant chains see great business opportunities in Taiwan and have achieved remarkable performance by expanding their presence there. Apart from cross-border cooperation in the food industry, Japan is now engaging in further high-tech industry exchanges with Taiwan. Taiwanese tech startups are looking to establish new footholds in Japan as their first step to enter the international market, opening new windows for Taiwan-Japan friendly trade. Meanwhile, Japan's manufacturing industry can collaborate with AI companies in Taiwan to address the supply chain and chip shortage issues faced by traditional Japanese industries in the post-pandemic era.

Recently, NHK World Japan reported on Taiwan's startups, including companies like Whoscall Gogolook Inc, Walkie Lookie Co., Ltd., TapPay, Cherri Tech, Inc, Qorvo Technology Co., Ltd, and Ubestream. Japan – Taiwan Innovation Summit 2024, organized by Startup Island Taiwan and Asia Silicon Valley, with the support of the National Development Council, in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, JETRO, TiB Tokyo Innovation Base, and other units, saw the participation of approximately 70 startups from Taiwan and Japan. AI machine learning, financial applications, and medical technology were the highlights of the event, with application scenarios including AI products, fraud prevention, cybersecurity, military defense, financial payment applications, and more. Ubestream AI Semantic Edge Computing Technology

Global Vision develops AI Semantic Edge Computing Technology by embedding lightweight AI semantic chips into low-end, low-power consumer electronics, replacing traditional touch interfaces. Application scenarios include air conditioning, television, lighting control, autonomous vehicles, smartphones, headphones, wearable devices, etc. These devices do not need to connect to cloud systems. Instead, they recognize human natural language through embedded chips on the devices and use AI machine learning models to interpret commands, controlling smart home and enterprise spaces and devices.

Dentall.ai Dental Record System

Dentall's AI system helps dentists record and store photos and write medical notes, enabling the generation of dental position images, treatment methods, and medical plans through AI machine learning. It integrates with the health insurance system, simplifying medical processes and communication.

Ubitus AI Image Generation Company

Ubitus is Taiwan's first technology company invested by NVIDIA, developing AI-generated drawing software UbiArt. It has also obtained permission from the original manga artist of the famous business manga "Shima Kousaku" to generate images of "Shimakousaku Horse Racing Visit" through AI.

Profet AI Enterprise Virtual AI Consultant

Profet AI has entered the Japanese market since 2023 and partnered with BIPROGY and IT innovation, Inc. in early 2024 to assist in the digital transformation of the Japanese manufacturing industry. Profet AI's main products are virtual data scientists and an AI virtual consultant platform, specifically designed to help AI novices in enterprises learn about AI applications in manufacturing.

Insto Installment Payment App

Insto is a mobile app focusing on inclusive economy, combining cash receipts and installment payments. It won the 2016 FUKUOKA Tech Day Pitch Winner, was selected for the 2023 Google Startup Grind Global Conference, and was among the top 40 in the Accelerate global growth program.

Gogolook Whoscall Anti-Fraud App

Gogolook, a founding member of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), offers products like Whoscall, Meiyu Auntie, and Little Bear Call, designed for anti-fraud purposes. They filter suspicious calls, block suspicious messages, and harassment.

Tron Future Military Defense System

Tron Future specializes in national military defense systems, with products including defense drone radar equipment and lightweight mobile satellite terminals.

Tron Future's T. Space Router is a lightweight satellite communication terminal covering 5G, which will be integrated into Taiwan's Low Earth Orbit Satellites (LEO) 5G communication system by the end of 2025. The T. Space Router can detect drones based on a satellite backbone infrastructure.

Cycraft Hacker Monitoring System

CyCraft Technology, headquartered in Taiwan with subsidiaries in Japan and Singapore, is supported by The CID Group and Pavilion Capital under Temasek Holdings. It provides cybersecurity services to government agencies, law enforcement, defense, banks, and high-tech manufacturing industries in the Asia-Pacific region, offering the XCockpit automated threat exposure management platform using AI and machine learning to identify potential cyberattacks.
