Solana NFT project DeGods welcomes its third season update, but triggers community dissatisfaction and selling pressure.
Degods announced the roadmap for the third quarter of this year in January, and officially updated it on August 13. However, the upgrade to NFT requires spending 333 $Dust, and the upgraded icons are not accepted by the community, leading to community FUD. The price of Degods dropped dramatically by over 20% within 24 hours.

NFT Icons to Undergo Major Update
In the update for Season 3 of Degods, the team will be replacing some of the less popular NFT attributes and offering 4 styles for holders to choose from.
Spending to Upgrade, NFTs Taking a Step Backward
The team stated that this upgrade will not dilute the value due to increased issuance but will enrich the appearance of DeGods, allowing holders to freely choose their preferred style. However, the community response has been less than expected, expressing disappointment with the rough lines and outlines seen in the preview images of Season 3. Dissatisfied holders are required to pay 333 Dust tokens, approximately $550, to "upgrade".
Gender Freedom Choice, Adding Diversity to Web3
Despite the quality of the Season 3 update falling short of community expectations, one change has brought a new trend to the community: gender. In previous PFP projects, the majority of characters were male, with very few or even none being female. In the Degods Season 3 update, holders can now choose the gender of the NFT. This change makes NFT projects more diverse and breaks the stereotype of male-dominated characters in previous PFP projects.
Facing community FUD and various criticisms, the DeGods artist explained the content of the Season 3 upgrade in a tweet and postponed the gender change feature until September.
Introducing Prize Pool System, Enhancing NFT Utility
In the Season 3 update, points obtained by staking DeGods NFTs will have a new utility. Holders can use the points in the Point Parlor prize pool system to win prizes. While the rewards in the prize pool have not been revealed yet, the mention of Tesla in the tweet has sparked the community's imagination. Additionally, the tweet vaguely mentions Kraken NFT, Mintify, Wreck League, indicating possible collaborations with DeGods.

Continuous FUD, Whales Dumping and Exiting
For the Season 3 update of DeGods, the community is generally dissatisfied with the content, leading to a large number of NFT listings for sale. As of now, within 24 hours, a record of 6,828 ETH in trading volume was set on Blur, and the floor price dropped by over 20%. One address sold around 200 DeGods. DeGods founder Frank expressed in a tweet that he will miss those departing holders and will strive to address the current community FUD.
Sorry to the DeGods & y00ts community for fumbling this so far.
This is the part where everyone says “I told you so”. I hate this part. I hate disappointing the community.
No easy days. Processing everything.
Adjusting approach. Not going anywhere.
