iPhone iOS 16.6 Version Must Be Updated Immediately
The interdisciplinary laboratory of the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto issued a statement today, revealing that Apple's iPhone is at potential risk of "zero-click attacks" due to a system vulnerability.
Citizen Lab stated that the vulnerability could allow attacks on iPhones running the latest version iOS 16.6 without any interaction from the victim. This includes sending malicious images from the attacker's iMessage account to the victim. Currently, this vulnerability has been exploited by the Israeli cyber intelligence company NSO Group.
Citizen Lab has informed Apple about this vulnerability, and Apple has released the iOS 16.6.1 version update today, which includes updates for iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Users at risk are strongly advised to update as soon as possible or enable the closed mode by going to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Scroll to the bottom.
How to check iPhone version: Settings -> General -> About

The Apple iOS/iPadOS 16.6.1 updates today includes a security patch to an iMessage vulnerability that allows remote code execution WITHOUT ANY INTERACTIONS from the victim. It is being exploited in the wild by the Pegasus threat group already. Update immediately. Stay #SAFU.
