Update MetaMask now! Warning issued for contracts containing "Set Approval For All" to prevent malicious authorizations

The cryptocurrency wallet MetaMask has been upgraded to version 10.18.0 today. Moving forward, users will receive a warning whenever they interact with smart contracts that include the "Set Approval For All" function.

MetaMask Contract Warning

According to an example on Wallet Guard's Twitter, a warning will pop up whenever a contract includes a request for Set Approval For All. The title clearly indicates whether to allow the other party to gain control of the assets, and the section for Approved assets will also remind to authorize the assets.

This function often appears in contracts for NFT transactions, allowing the market to transfer users' assets. By adding this feature, users can avoid authorizing accidentally or maliciously interacting with contracts, preventing loss of wallet assets.

How to Update MetaMask Version

First, go to the Google Extensions page and open the developer mode in the top right corner, then click on the update in the top left corner to complete the process.

You can confirm whether MetaMask is already on the latest version 10.18.0.
