The ZK L2 solution zkSync era mainnet has just launched not long ago. In the ecosystem, a DEX (decentralized exchange) called MERLIN started fundraising on 4/26 and was reportedly hacked for $1.8 million.

MERLIN DEX Hacked for $1.8 Million

  • A tweet from @FancyGemsETH on 4/26 at 9:24 stated that Merlin's liquidity had dried up and warned people not to interact with the website.
  • Another tweet from @CryptoSources, founder of Alfa DAO, retweeted the post, expressing relief that they had done thorough due diligence and believed that the team behind this protocol did not meet their standards, thus avoiding a disaster.
  • A tweet from @0xBobie, a member of buji DAO and Alfa DAO, listed the hacker's address and notified the cybersecurity company Peckshield.

MERLIN DEX Hacked on First Day of Fundraising

On the night of 4/25, MERLIN had just announced the launch of its token MAGE for sale, with the website showing a raise of 321 ETH, approximately $600,000. However, news of the hack quickly followed. As of the time of writing, there has been no official announcement from the team on Twitter.
