Binance senior executives expected to be released? U.S. pressures Nigeria, urging immediate release

Former Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who was previously accused and detained by the Nigerian government for alleged money laundering and tax evasion, has suffered ill health due to lack of proper medical care. Recently, the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs issued a strong statement regarding this matter, urging the Nigerian government to immediately release Gambaryan to ensure his basic human rights and medical needs are met.

US Mobilizes All Resources to Safeguard Human Rights

The Foreign Affairs Commission emphasizes the willingness to mobilize all resources to ensure the personal safety of Gambaryan. At the same time, it urges the Nigerian government to release him promptly and fulfill its international obligations, as Gambaryan is still suffering from various complications such as malaria and pneumonia, requiring timely and comprehensive medical care. The US Consular officials are also allowed to visit Gambaryan at any time.

Intervening to Protect Citizens, US Expresses Displeasure with Nigerian Government

The Foreign Affairs Commission officially recognizes Tigran Gambaryan as a "US citizen illegally detained by a foreign government," and calls on the Nigerian government to uphold the legal rights and basic human rights of all political prisoners according to the constitution. It also expresses sympathy and support to Gambaryan's family and other US citizens unlawfully detained abroad, stating, "US citizens should not be detained by foreign governments, especially by governments that are our diplomatic partners; this is completely unreasonable."

No Response Yet, Gambaryan's Release Remains Uncertain

The Foreign Affairs Commission is currently actively communicating with the Nigerian government, which has not responded so far. However, the Commission emphasizes that regardless of the progress, pressure must continue to be exerted on the Nigerian government to persist in efforts for Gambaryan's safe return.

With Binance founder Zhao Changpeng CZ recently announcing an early release, this brings hope to some individuals still embroiled in international controversies, including Gambaryan at the executive level, offering a glimmer of hope for his release. Perhaps, similar situations may also find resolution under international pressure and legal negotiations.

Binance founder CZ was released early on Friday and Zhao Changpeng will once again focus on the healthy development of the cryptocurrency community.
