FBI seizes $1.7 million in cryptocurrency, mostly from Binance

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released a document revealing that it seized nearly $1.7 million worth of cryptocurrency between March and July, all confiscated due to violations of federal laws. The confiscated cryptocurrencies include ETH, XMR, SOL, ADA, and USDT, with 46 accounts belonging to Binance.

According to The Block's statistics, the confiscated cryptocurrencies by the FBI include Ethereum (ETH), Monero (XMR), the native token of the Solana blockchain (SOL), the native token of the Cardano blockchain (ADA), and even the meme coin originator Dogecoin (DOGE).

A significant amount of stablecoins DAI and USDT were also seized, but USDC was not confiscated.

In terms of distribution, Florida and Virginia had the highest amount of confiscated crypto assets.

Most Seized by Binance

Each item in the documents details the source of the confiscated assets, with digital assets described as seized from cold wallets or cryptocurrency exchange accounts.

Of the 46 accounts mentioned, all belong to Binance, with no seized accounts from other major exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken, Kucoin, and OKX.
