Source: Insider: OpenAI is developing a universal assistant to replace user-controlled computers

According to The Information, a source familiar with the matter revealed that OpenAI is internally developing software that can control user devices and automate tasks, capable of performing more complex work, potentially changing future work patterns for users.

True AI Assistant

The Information cited a source on Wednesday, reporting that OpenAI is developing an agent software that can take over users' devices to automatically perform complex tasks.

This assistant will be able to execute various cross-application tasks, such as managing browser tabs, conducting market research, assisting users in booking flights for specific dates and arranging itineraries, and even automatically filling out expense reports for users and inputting them into accounting software.

The agent will carry out more complex work tasks under the user's command without the need for close supervision, achieving the AI assistant of many science fiction scenarios. However, OpenAI has not responded to this disclosure.

Enhance User Scenarios

In previous articles, it was mentioned that OpenAI does not currently have a good scenario for maintaining user retention. Although ChatGPT still holds the top market share in terms of user numbers and is far ahead, in the long run, with the participation of various tech giants combining their products with AI to enhance functionality, it will pose a significant threat to the former.
