From skepticism to acceptance, Kevin Hart

The well-known American comedian Kevin Hart recently served as the host for a fundraising event for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). During the event, a guest asked whether they accept cryptocurrency, to which Kevin Hart, known for his excited and humorous style, initially criticized cryptocurrency as "voodoo money," but later made a big turnaround and accepted cryptocurrency donations, bringing Bitcoin back into the spotlight once again.

Once Involved in Promoting ICO Scam Suspicions

In fact, Kevin Hart was not entirely unfamiliar with blockchain and cryptocurrency. Back in 2017 when ICOs were all the rage, Kevin Hart and rapper TI were suspected of promoting the FLiK project, which claimed to be an online distribution platform allowing creators to sell or rent their works and raise funds through ICO.

At that time, the well-known American rapper T.I. (Clifford Harris Jr., also known as Tip) not only joined FLiK as a co-founder but also claimed that the project would revolutionize Hollywood. Kevin Hart even tweeted:

I am very excited about T.I. and his new project FLiK.

However, in 2018, several investors filed a lawsuit in the Atlanta federal court, claiming they had purchased now-worthless FLiK tokens, resulting in total losses exceeding $2 million.

According to federal investigators, FLiK was not only an unregistered security, but the project team also used investors' funds to purchase luxury homes, Ferraris, jewelry, and other extravagances. The so-called online platform simply did not exist. According to SEC documents, T.I. was ultimately fined $75,000 in civil penalties, while Kevin Hart managed to escape unscathed without facing any form of punishment.
