"Musk Rebuts Bloomberg Report: I Have Never Discussed Cryptocurrency with Trump"

Bloomberg cited anonymous sources saying that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are discussing cryptocurrency policies, mainly because Trump has been mentioning Bitcoin and other digital assets more frequently in his campaign activities, seeing it as a way to reach out to new voters.

Bloomberg: Musk and Trump Discuss Crypto Policy

Bloomberg's report mentions the following:

  1. The Trump campaign team is considering inviting Musk to speak at the Republican National Convention.

  2. Trump and Musk are discussing the possibility of Musk playing a broad role as an advisor if Trump wins the election in November.

  3. Musk and Trump allies have discussed electric cars and space projects.

  4. Musk had considered endorsing and donating to Trump, but took no action as he believed no one could beat Trump.

Although Bloomberg's headline includes "Musk Advises Trump on Cryptocurrency," the article does not mention any details of their discussion on cryptocurrency.

The report states that entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who supports Trump, facilitated the meeting between Trump and Musk, but Ramaswamy's representatives declined to comment.

Additionally, The Wall Street Journal points out the alliance between Trump and Musk, while CNBC reports that Musk may receive a formal position if Trump wins.

Biden Team Criticizes Government-Business Collusion

James Singer, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign team, stated on Thursday:

Trump is selling out America in an attempt to hold onto power and pay his legal fees, and billionaires like Musk are just beneficiaries who are well aware that donating to Trump would lead to tax cuts for themselves but also cut social security and welfare for the middle class.

Bloomberg notes that although Musk is the world's third-richest person, he has not been keen on political donations. Records from the Federal Election Commission show that Musk's political donations have been less than $1 million since 2009, with zero donations in this election.

In March this year, Musk attended a fundraising event for Trump, but he stated after the event that he had no plans to donate to either Trump or Biden.

Musk: Pretty Sure We Didn't Talk Crypto

Musk responded to Bloomberg's report on the 30th stating:

While I generally support shifting power from government to the people, and cryptocurrencies can do that, I'm pretty sure I've never discussed cryptocurrencies with Trump.

Bloomberg subsequently updated Musk's response in the article.
