Traders and Terra Founder Bet on Next Year

A Twitter trader, KOL, and Terra founder Do Kwon initiated a high-stakes bet, with both parties wagering $1 million on whether the price of LUNA will be higher or lower in a year compared to today. Currently, the funds have been transferred to witness Cobie's address.

This inevitably brings to mind the Sam/coinmamba moment. FTX founder SBF had a bet with trader CoinMamba in early 2021, where he said he would buy SOL at $3 regardless of how much CoinMamba had. Since then, SOL has been soaring, making this tweet a classic.

Will LUNA be above $88 on 3/14/2023?

Twitter trader Sensei Algod tweeted stating:

Who wants to bet me a million? LUNA price will be below $88 a year from today.

He tagged Terra founder Do Kwon and Jose Macedo, managing partner at Delphi venture, the incubator behind Terra.

Do Kwon immediately responded:

Count me in, but I'm more interested in betting 90% of your net worth. But maybe a million dollars will do.

Funds from both parties secured

Do Kwon named cryptocurrency trader Cobie as the custodian of funds and witness. Each party has deposited one million USDT. If LUNA's price on Coingecko is above $88 on 3/14 next year, Cobie will deliver the funds in LUNA to Do Kwon, otherwise to Algod.

Algod agreed to the arrangement and emphasized that the calculation will be based on the 24-hour average price on 3/14/2023. According to the address provided by Cobie here, funds from both parties have been secured.

Algod also taunted before the agreed meeting in a year: "Please don't print a bunch of UST for the Anchor Protocol again."
