NYC mayoral candidate Adams declares: New York will be the center of Bitcoin in a year

New York City mayoral candidate Eric Adams, who is leading in the Democratic primary with the highest vote share, declared on the eve of the primary elections: "New York will be the center of Bitcoin in a year."

The New York City mayoral primary for both parties was held on the 20th, and candidate Adams stated at a campaign event:

"I guarantee you a year from now... you're going to see a different city. We're going to be the center of life sciences, the center of cybersecurity, the center of self-driving cars, drones, and Bitcoin." (Jump to 38:16)

While Adams did not make many comments about Bitcoin throughout the event, this statement still excited many Bitcoin supporters. Michael Saylor, the CEO of MicroStrategy, a company deeply intertwined with Bitcoin, stated:

"Bitcoin is the hope of New York."

According to a report, Adams leads the Democratic field of 13 candidates with 31.7% of the vote in 84% of the precincts reporting. However, due to the new ranked-choice voting system in New York, it will depend on who voters select as their second and third choices, and the results are not expected until mid-July.

On the other hand, Taiwanese-American entrepreneur Yang Anze, also a supporter of cryptocurrency, admitted defeat less than 2 hours after the polls opened due to his lower-than-expected vote count.
