Is a 25-year sentence too lenient for SBF? Comments from the crypto community and Vitalik.
FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, also known as SBF, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on the 28th. Many in the cryptocurrency community believe the sentence is far too lenient. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin pointed out that compared to the crypto villains of the previous era, Mark Karpeles, the former CEO of Mt. Gox, is the only one deserving of forgiveness.
Before receiving the 25-year sentence, the last words spoken by SBF in court were: "I'm sorry to my colleagues at FTX."

Vitalik: Former Mt. Gox CEO Deserves Forgiveness
Vitalik's tweet did not mention SBF. He stated:
Among the last generation of crypto villains, the only one worth redeeming is Mark Karpeles, the former CEO of Mt. Gox. This is because he did not, like the others, loudly demand a return to the mainstream; he just quietly did interesting things. Check out how his tweets differ from those of the others.
By contrast, Mark Karpeles is mostly talking about non-crypto-related matters on Twitter, except expressing his joy about starting repayments for Mt. Gox.

Su Zhu, founder of Three Arrows Capital, claimed to have blown the whistle on FTX: "I was initially suppressed by The Block!"
The only "crypto villain from a previous era" who deserves a path to redemption is Mark Karpeles @MagicalTux – precisely because he's the only one who's not clamoring for attention asking for one. He's just quietly doing interesting stuff.

SBF to Be Released from Prison, Silk Road Founder to Remain Incarcerated for Life
Blockchain Association and former Compound legal counsel Jake Chervinsky also commented on SBF's sentence, evidently believing it to be unjust:
If you've been following all the news about SBF today, take a moment to compare it to Ross Ulbricht. SBF is getting 25 years in prison, which is a long time, but he will get out and move forward. Ross Ulbricht, on the other hand, was sentenced to two life terms plus 40 years, which is not fair.

SBF got 25 years. That's a long time, but he'll get out and have a life left afterward.@RealRossU got two life sentences, plus 40 years.
This is not justice.https://t.co/nOnKQFkctx
