Only care about what you once owned! CryptoPunk avatars are prestigious, and the community is seeing a surge in rental opportunities.

After the frenzy in the CryptoPunk market sparked by renowned American entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk last week, the average price for a single CryptoPunk has soared to over $100,000. Even the founder of Uniswap spent approximately $200,000 yesterday to acquire a CryptoPunk with the serial number #6055. However, there is now a new alternative method that not only saves users a significant amount of money but also allows them to experience the feeling of owning a CryptoPunk!

If you can't afford to buy, why not consider renting first!

Through the website cryptopunk.rent, it can be observed that there has been an increasing trend of renting CryptoPunks in the past 3 months. Tenants have the right to set the rented CryptoPunk as their avatar on Twitter, Discord, NFT markets, and any other social platforms where CryptoPunk users gather.

During the rental period, the owner of the CryptoPunk is not allowed to use it on these platforms or sell it. In other words, during the rental period, which can last up to 99 days, the tenant has the proof of possessing and using the CryptoPunk.

Currently, there are about 20 types of CryptoPunks that have been rented out, with rental periods ranging from 1 week to 3 months.

The former product manager of Coinbase also mentioned on Twitter:

"After many people buy a CryptoPunk, they set it as their profile picture, using it as a social signal, rather than just copying the image directly. Some people want to do this too but can't afford it. Hence, the rental market has emerged."

Some may question why not just copy and paste the avatar since it's just an image. However, it's like asking, "Why don't you buy a $2,000 knockoff Chanel bag at a supermarket instead of a $200,000 authentic one at a department store?"

Of course, there's no issue if you choose to do so. But for those who believe in and are passionate about the NFT market, they care about the authenticity of the goods and are not willing to engage in any act of intellectual property theft. In this scenario, based on different financial capabilities, various commercial behaviors have emerged to suit different individuals.
