Meta showcases Facebook digital collectibles page, NFTs to hit largest social media platform

Meta (formerly known as Facebook) announced in May that its product Instagram is developing NFT-related features. CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated on June 21 that they will provide more ways for creators on Facebook and Instagram to earn money, including digital collectibles. Zuckerberg said, "We are expanding testing so that all creators in the world can showcase their NFTs on Instagram. This feature will also be seen on Facebook, allowing people to publish across platforms on Facebook and Instagram. However, initially only some U.S. creators can use it. We are also testing NFTs on Instagram Story in conjunction with SparkAR."

Meta's product manager Navdeep Singh also explicitly mentioned on Twitter on June 21 that Facebook will have NFT functionality. He also shared a mock-up image:

This illustration is almost identical to the design of digital collectibles on Instagram, with only interface differences between Facebook and Instagram.
