NFT vending machine appears on the streets of New York! Purchase with fiat currency without needing to hold cryptocurrency

The NFT trading platform Neon on Solana has set up a 24-hour "NFT vending machine" in Manhattan, New York, providing the public with a channel to purchase NFTs using fiat currency. Currently, there are two NFT series available for purchase, namely Party Pigeons and Project Color.

"My thought was that there's no simpler purchasing mechanism than a vending machine, and we built it to demonstrate how powerful and easy it can be to support digital artists and demystify the process of acquiring NFTs." said Jordan Birnholtz, co-founder of Neon.

To better convey and engage with the concept of NFTs, a 24-hour NFT vending machine created by Neon was officially launched last Saturday, the 19th, on the streets of Manhattan, New York.

Unlike traditional Web3 NFT trading platforms where users need to purchase cryptocurrencies on exchanges before buying and then transfer them to a digital wallet, Neon's vending machine provides a channel for people to purchase NFTs with fiat currency, offering various payment methods such as credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay. This not only reduces the technical barriers but also eliminates the various friction costs associated with on-chain transactions.

"While only 2% of Americans own a digital wallet, 80% of Americans have credit or debit cards. This increases the potential customer base for artists by 40 times." Jordan Birnholtz mentioned.

The NFT products in the vending machine are presented in blind boxes, with two series currently available for purchase, namely Party Pigeons and Project Color, both projects on Solana. After selecting and purchasing a product, open the paper box, scan the internal QR code, and then claim the NFT on the Neon website.

In the future, Neon's vending machines will expand to other cities, collaborate with more artists, and support cryptocurrency payments.
