Azuki Discord Meeting Recap: Background changes, new animations, and products to be launched, but prices continue to fall.

The Japanese NFT project Azuki, after experiencing controversy over a new project launch, held a community meeting on Discord this morning with team members and founder ZAGABOND. During the meeting, in addition to explaining remedial measures, they also announced new products to be launched in the future. However, the community seems skeptical of their claims as related NFTs continue to decline.

How to Remedy the Issue of Azuki Elementals' Launch Art?

Regarding the key points of this meeting, NFT KOL Arcanic compiled them on Twitter, starting with the content of Azuki Elementals, referred to as Elementals for brevity, which was the focal point of the chaos.

The Azuki team stated that Elementals primarily serve as a way for external Web3 communities to join the Azuki ecosystem at a second-tier level. The core goal is to establish a larger IP to attract more people, hence the design featuring animals and children. Additionally, the introduction of four new elements by Elementals demonstrates the diversity of the ecosystem.

While creating Elementals, the team experimented with various versions and body types. However, the team hoped to evoke the same emotions in people when browsing the OG Azuki series. Nonetheless, the community did not resonate with this approach.

To address the current situation, the Azuki team is attempting to change the background of Elementals in various styles, while also encouraging the community to participate in voting and share their ideas.

Furthermore, regarding the minting process, the team mentioned being inspired by NBA Top Shot and aiming to provide everyone with a live unveiling social experience. To enhance immersion, they integrated AI and social media elements. However, the team acknowledged that they did not meet their goals in this aspect.

Azuki Team to Release Short Animation, Hints at Token Issuance

In addition to the review of this event, the Azuki team brought some new updates.

For instance, an Azuki animation series is currently in production, to be presented in the form of short animations. The team believes that using decentralized IP and Web3 technology can revolutionize the animation industry, with the entire production process relying solely on self-funding.

"Imagine watching an animation and being able to interact with NPCs in the animation. Whether through Twitter or a web app, NPCs can issue tokens to you, and you can interact using these tokens," said Azuki founder ZAGABOND.

Regarding the mysterious green beans that the community is interested in, these beans will be released alongside the animation, and only Azuki holders can obtain them. However, the green beans will not alter Azuki's metadata or introduce new projects to dilute the current ones.

What Role Does BEANZ Play in the Ecosystem?

As for BEANZ, which experienced the most significant price drop in this event?

The team mentioned that although BEANZ exists in the same ecosystem, it is a completely independent IP and will continue to collaborate with other brands to expand the BEANZ footprint in the future.

Future Products to be Launched by Azuki

Lastly, the meeting also mentioned two potential future products to be launched, one of which is a new reward system called "Collector Status," which will feature future functionalities influenced by various factors such as:

  • Holding Azuki
  • Duration of holding
  • Different attributes

Less information was revealed about the other product, with only ZAGABOND mentioning that it will create a way to tokenize Azuki's culture.

Azuki NFTs Still on a Continuous Decline

Despite the Azuki team's efforts to communicate with the community and announce future plans to appease them, holders do not seem convinced, and the NFT ecosystem continues to decline.

According to NFTGo data, Elementals experienced a 17% daily drop, with the lowest price at 1.37 ETH, significantly below the original 2 ETH price. Azuki and BEANZ saw an 8.3% and 18.62% daily drop, respectively, indicating that BEANZ holders are less optimistic about future developments.
