Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) team Yuga Labs collaborates with Sandbox

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) team Yuga Labs has been collaborating with Sandbox's parent company Animoca Brands for seven months, and the first phase of the project is about to be launched. This announcement was made by BAYC, releasing the website https://somethingisbrewing.xyz/ with the message "something still brewing" indicating that it is still in the works.

KYC Registration Required

Unlike what is commonly seen in the cryptocurrency world, the registration page released by this project requires verification of wallet addresses and binding of KYC data. BAYC mentioned that they are not fond of KYC either, but if this is deemed necessary for the project, more details will be released in the future.

According to the webpage information, the wallet address needs to be linked with identity verification that includes name, photo, date of birth, address, address proof, and email, and also provide either a passport, ID card, or driver's license.

Not Issuing Coins or P2E?

BAYC, known for keeping things mysterious, specifically referenced posts from October and December last year, one highlighting the release of coins in the first quarter of 2022, and the other mentioning the creation of a play-to-earn (P2E) game with Animoca Brands, and explicitly denied that these were related.

Will KYC in blockchain games become a trend?

Among cryptocurrency applications, centralized exchanges have the largest user base and are under the most regulatory pressure, hence they have already fully implemented KYC requirements. In recent years, many governments have been addressing the money laundering risks associated with digital assets and actively promoting regulatory policies; if blockchain games aim to reach the masses, major companies will inevitably adopt real-name systems to meet regulatory requirements. Assuming that BAYC's project with game company Animoca Brands is related to blockchain games and successfully reaches the public, it will definitely bring changes that are necessary for the development of blockchain games.

Existing BAYC Extension Mobile Game: Apes vs. Mutants

Recently, BAYC has launched a mobile game called Apes vs. Mutants on the app store, which can be played without owning any of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. It is a casual game similar to the popular mobile game "Archero."
