Bored Ape Yacht Club Instagram Scam! Hackers disguise fake links as airdrops, leading to the transfer of assets from multiple users

The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) community platform was exploited by hackers, and on the 26th, the official announcement revealed that earlier, the official Instagram account was hacked. Hackers used fake links to redirect users to a fake BAYC website, where users were prompted to sign a "safeTransferFrom" transaction in their wallets through a fake airdrop link, resulting in the transfer of their assets. At least a hundred NFT transactions have been transferred to the malicious address.

The officials stated that they quickly discovered the hacking incident, warned the community, removed the malicious links, and attempted to regain control of the accounts. BAYC officials expressed bewilderment, as they had enabled 2FA verification and are unsure how the hackers infiltrated, and are currently investigating the matter.

Victims Please Contact Official Channels

The official statement from BAYC advises that if you have been affected by this hacking incident or have crucial information regarding the event, please contact the official channels at: [email protected]. Note! BAYC emphasizes that users must initiate contact, as they will not reach out to you first, and no one will ask for your seed phrase.
