The blockchain-based writing platform Mirror is now open for use, allowing articles to be minted as NFTs and supporting crowdfunding.

"Mirror," a decentralized blogging platform launched on Ethereum in December last year, announced on the 5th that it has lifted all usage restrictions. Anyone with an Ethereum address can now publish articles and engage in various activities on the platform.

What is Mirror?

At first glance, Mirror looks similar to the popular blogging platform Medium, with a clean and minimalist interface. However, Mirror offers unique features and functions tailored for the cryptocurrency industry. Users can publish articles on Mirror without the need for an account and password; instead, they must have an Ethereum address. Additionally, the published articles are not stored on centralized servers but are stored on the blockchain through the Arweave project. After being cryptographically signed by the user, the articles are permanently stored on the blockchain, ensuring they cannot be maliciously deleted or altered.

In Mirror, "Entries" serve as the term for articles. After connecting a wallet, users can start writing articles by simply clicking on Entries. Currently, in addition to plain text, Mirror also supports some Markdown syntax. Users can embed images, videos, Twitter posts, and even NFTs within Entries.

Turning Entries into NFTs

In addition to permanently preserving their work on the blockchain, users can turn their articles into NFT collectibles by adding a cover image. These NFTs can be collected or sold on major NFT marketplaces. However, due to the fluctuating Ethereum gas fees, the minting cost may exceed $100.

Crowdfunding Feature

In addition to writing articles, Mirror also offers a crowdfunding feature. By setting fundraising goals, deadlines, and rewards for donors, users can share their fundraising purposes with readers through Entries. Interested individuals can directly support the fundraising project by clicking on "Back This Project."

Future Development of Mirror

From the existing features, Mirror is already an innovative blogging platform. Moreover, many experimental features are actively being developed, such as NFT auction functionality, allowing readers to bid on NFTs directly within articles, and article migration capability, enabling articles published on other platforms to be transferred to Mirror while retaining the original publication date. Finally, the Mirror development team stated:

Many DAOs have vibrant communities and valuable assets, but they are not recognized by the web2 development or creative ecosystems. Mirror allows any DAO with a multisig wallet to start sharing its story with the world.
