NFT Craze Spreads to "Stones"! EtherRock Artwork Sells for Over $100,000

With the rise of the NFT market, more and more people are joining the ranks of collecting and trading NFTs. Many early NFT projects have also garnered attention recently and have been given significant value.

What is EtherRock?

EtherRock is a series of NFT stone images minted on the Ethereum blockchain in 2017, with a total supply set at 100 stones, but not all were minted and released. They are identical in appearance except for color variations. The inspiration for EtherRock comes from the fad of Pet Rocks that emerged in the late 1975, where people treated rocks as pets, and owning a pet rock became a trend.

However, like many early NFT projects, EtherRock was not popular and went unclaimed initially. Due to the recent craze in the NFT market, there has been renewed interest in these early NFT projects, sparking high levels of discussion. The remaining EtherRocks have also been minted recently.

The prices of EtherRock in the secondary market are continuously soaring. Last weekend, two Ether Rocks were sold for over $100,000 each, with EtherRock #21 sold for 45 ETH and EtherRock #33 sold for 33 ETH.

The Value of EtherRock for Owners

American entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, who sparked the CryptoPunk craze last weekend, not only mentioned EtherRock on Twitter but also expressed his expectations for these early NFT projects.

In a tweet, he mentioned, "I see many diving deep into NFTs, even researching their history. That's why I like projects that came out before this year, as many new projects feel too speculative."

An EtherRock owner also stated on Twitter, "Pet Rocks give a strong sense of shock, seemingly foolish yet quite perfect."

While spending exorbitant amounts on a stone may seem foolish to many, as stated on the EtherRocks official website, "These virtual stones have no utility other than being sellable. But as one of the few owners of the 100 stones in the game, it will bring you a strong sense of pride." More and more people are willing to spend large sums to become owners of these early NFT projects, perhaps finding this sense of pride invaluable.
