Takashi Murakami releases NFT "Murakami.Flowers," with 108 Murakami flowers being gradually put up for sale.

Contemporary artist Takashi Murakami is auctioning his NFT artwork "Murakami.Flowers" on the OpenSea platform, with a fixed release of 12 editions daily, totaling 108 editions.

108 Meaningful Murakami Dot Flowers

Takashi Murakami stated in his account introduction on OpenSea here:

“I am Takashi Murakami, proposing, researching, and implementing the art movement 'superflat.' Art can only be accomplished by studying and disseminating one's philosophical thoughts simultaneously. An artist must create works that will remain relevant for centuries after their death, within the short decades before their passing.”

In accordance with this idea, I began this experiment. It is akin to excavating the essence of art within the VR domain, something that can be recognized and further disseminated.

“Is this just a passing fad? Or is it the first step toward understanding and realizing the future value? The series of works I am about to release includes Takashi Murakami's iconic small flowers, created in 24 x 24 pixel art style evoking nostalgia for the Famicom (Nintendo's Family Computer) in 108 variations, a number representing the 108 desires in the Buddhist world.”

Buyers Do Not Own Copyright

It is important to note that those who purchase these NFTs do not own the copyright to the dot flower pattern and are not permitted to use it for commercial purposes. The copyright still belongs to Takashi Murakami's company, Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd.
