Despite adding more meme coins to the platform, Robinhood remains committed to being a security and education-focused platform. While the newly added assets are tradable on the platform, deposits and withdrawals are not yet available, with these functions set to be launched soon.

CME Group Releases Cryptocurrency "Reference Rate Index"

Following discussions about the potential introduction of cryptocurrency futures contracts, CME Group has released a cryptocurrency "Reference Rate Index."

Payal Shah, Head of Cryptocurrency Products at CME Group, mentioned earlier this month at the CryptoCompare Digital Asset Summit that CME Group is considering launching cryptocurrency futures contracts based on user demand.

She noted that the introduction of cryptocurrency futures contracts depends on resolving issues related to the "Reference Rate Index" and regulatory matters. CME Group will either rely on indices from other exchanges or create its own price indices.

Approximately a week later, CME Group announced a collaboration with index provider CF Benchmarks to launch 11 cryptocurrency reference rates and real-time indices, including:

  • Solana (SOL)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Uniswap (UNI)
  • Cardano (ADA)
  • Polkadot (DOT)
  • Cosmos (ATOM)
  • Chainlink (LINK)
  • Polygon (MATIC)
  • Algorand (ALGO)
  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  • Stellar Lumens (XLM)

Price data for the indices will be provided by exchanges such as Bitstamp, Coinbase, Gemini, itBit, and Kraken. This move could be part of CME Group's preparations for potential cryptocurrency futures offerings in the future.
