Nearly Half of Crypto Millionaires Hold Bitcoin
H&P presented several data points in their report:
The total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies has reached $1.18 trillion.
Approximately 425 million people globally hold cryptocurrencies.
There are 88,200 crypto millionaires worldwide, with nearly half, 40,500 individuals, holding Bitcoin.
There are 182 crypto billionaires with assets over $100 million globally, with 78 individuals holding Bitcoin.
There are 22 crypto billionaires with assets over $1 billion globally, with 6 individuals holding Bitcoin.
Note: With the global population surpassing 8 billion in 2023, cryptocurrency holders represent approximately 5.3% of the population.
Will Cryptocurrencies Rise Like Tech Stocks Did?
The report quoted several partners and financial experts, emphasizing that cryptocurrencies are an emerging asset class on the rise.
For example, financial and investment expert Jeff D. Opdyke stated in a report in July:
Cryptocurrencies are like the early internet frenzy, experiencing prosperity and downturns, and are now replaying the bubble from 1999 to 2001.
Niklas JRM Schmidt, partner at Wolf Theiss law firm in Austria, mentioned:
High-net-worth individuals and family offices need to recognize that crypto assets are an emerging asset class. BTC and ETH cover about 65.2% of the market share, with other cryptocurrencies following at only 7.6%, 2.9%, and 2.5% respectively. For newcomers to crypto investments, starting with BTC and ETH makes sense.
Dominic Volek, Head of Private Clients at Henley & Partners, said:
Despite the high volatility of cryptocurrencies, they are becoming increasingly popular, similar to alternative residence and citizenship, which are becoming an asset class pursued by the wealthy.
